The Emporia - Greensville Historical Museum was built in 1902 and on the site there is a Confederate monument with a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and the Confederate flag. At the foot of the monument in Veterans Memorial Park is a wreath honoring local war heroes. Every year, red, white and blue flowers are laid at the park's veterans' memorials, as well as at the Veterans' Memorial Park's memorial stones and markings honoring local war heroes. We drove down a beautiful mountain road, stopped for a barbecue and a little sweet tea and ended up in a place that is truly God's land.
